If you’re wondering whether this treatment is the right choice for you, consider the following.
I came into Man Cave Sydney to try out their facial laser treatments – The IPL + Resurfx.
At first I just had everything below my forehead done, and I got pretty great results from it, so I decided to get my full face done maybe 6 months later, and then again just recently.
No one will be able to tell you have done anything, just seems to move your base-line skin appearance up so you consistently look around as good as you looked on a really good day before treatment – and seems to get rid of days where you look a bit dead.. did for me anyway.
Your pores will shrink down, black-heads vaporise, obvious blood vessel marks are removed, and if you have pale skin it will takes most of the redness out of the treated areas.
I can really recommend it, it is the only facial thing I have ever seen that has the effects it claims to. I plan to do around three a year for as long as I can – While the skin stays good looking for at least 6-months, I found I got use to my face being a bit more firm and lifted, and that starts to fade a bit around the 6-month mark for me, and a bit of redness slowly creeps back.
There is some downtime with the IPL treatment. When treating pigmented areas on the skin, you will find these areas become darker and will flake away over a 7-10 day period. This is still classified as a non-invasive treatment and if you don’t mind looking sunskissed with some darker freckles you can go back to your normal routine within an hour.
You may also have some pinkness or redness in the treated areas. This is completely normal. You may also experience some mild to moderate swelling and heat within the skin that should subside within a few hours.
The sensations felt during IPL treatment will vary between individuals. They may range between a warm sensation to something rather like the sting felt when a rubber band is snapped against your skin. Every person has their own individual tolerance for pain, which will greatly influence the sensations that you feel during your treatment. If you do experience anything more than minor discomfort, please do let us know. Your comfort is our priority.
While most patients tolerate IPL treatment really well, you may not be a good candidate if you are prone to red, raised keloid scars or have a darker skin tone. If you tend to not react well to burns or have diabetes, your body may have trouble healing from this non-invasive procedure.
Every person heals at his or own rate, which means that there is no one-size answer for how soon you’ll be able to see the results of your IPL. The majority of patients find that they see the early start of results within the first few days after treatment, with full results seen between seven or 14 days after treatment.
There are some possible risks to the IPL treatment. The side-effects of the treatment could include blistering or very mild bleeding. Hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation may be possible. Scarring is rare.
Some of the results of your IPL Photorejuvenation treatment very well may be permanent. This will depend on the type of skin conditions that you are treating. Maintaining a lifestyle that offers treatment for your skin can go a long way towards preserving your results. Minimise sun exposure, follow a good skin care regimin, and use sunblock every time you go outdoors. Your skin will continue to age after the treatment. IPL treatment, however, will reset the clock so that you have a youthful look for much longer.
You are best to prepare for 24-48 hours of healing time. Most of our patients plan to spend a few days indoors and out of the sun. During this time, the skin will be a slight shade of pink going through it’s rejuvenation cycle. The precise length of healing and rejuvenation will vary between individuals.
First and foremost, you should be in good overall health prior to undergoing this procedure. If you have fine lines and wrinkles that you’d like to have treated, or perhaps shallow acne scars, then you may be a good candidate for the laser ResurFX treatment. Those who have active acne may not be the ideal candidate for the treatment.
We ensure that each of our patients is comfortable during the treatment. The laser ResurFX treatment may cause some minor discomfort. Most patients describe it as feeling similar to the sensation of having pins and needles and heat on the skin.
Every person heals at his or her own personal pace. That said, you will notice results from the treatment between 7 to 21 days after the first treatment.
It is important to discuss your medical history prior to undergoing this treatment. Some of the side effects patients experience include redness, swelling and some itching. There is a very minor risk or scarring, particularly if you are prone to developing keloid scars.
The final results of your laser resurFX treatment are permanent. You may need maintenance sessions in the future, however. Most patients will see incredible improvement after just one treatment, and do not require additional treatments. Other skincare solutions may help to keep the skin looking refreshed.
